John Alexander Lott was born into a family of seven older sisters on a fruit farm in Orem, Utah. At an early age he discovered an aptitude for getting lost in his imagination. With his trusty sidearm, (a broken shovel handle) he began to make up adventures in different parts of the orchard. Four acres is a lot of space to run and play, and he made good use of it.
Reading only added fuel to the fire burning through his imaginary world. He daydreamed about visiting people and places in the past. From ancient battle scenes, to far flung apocalyptic crusades, anything he learned about from books or in school was incorporated into his daily jaunts out behind his house. John was always only a few steps away from the orchard, the genesis of his imaginary creations.
John graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Elementary Education in 2005. He has taught 4th through 6th grade since that time. His father was an English and History teacher for 33 and a half years, his maternal grandfather was a band teacher, and his paternal grandmother was a first grade teacher and reading specialist for over 40 years! Teaching is in his blood.
In addition to teaching and writing, he enjoys spending time with family and playing the piano. He invites all of his readers to like his Facebook page, Lotts of Books, and to follow him on Instagram at lotts_of_books.
