Jason Mackenzie has never really put effort into anything in his life until one day when a mysterious energy sends him to a time and place he never believed in. With words like "Nephite" and "sacred records" being tossed around, Jason feels more comfortable staying out of it. Church just isn't his thing. But, His grandfather's long-kept secret needs protecting, and for the first time in his life, he realizes he's lost, in more ways than one. He must find his way home. He carries with him a key piece of one of the greatest of all works on behalf of the souls of men. But he's running
. . . out of time.
James Mathews knew his father was a genius. What he didn't know was that his father's secret project turned out to be a portal across time and space to a land he had never heard of. After his father's untimely death, James accidentally transports himself to the Land of Lehi and winds up in the middle of a family feud that is heading in a dangerous direction.
Meanwhile, fresh back from his own journey, Jason Mackenzie is introduced to James' family who have no idea what has become of the boy. With little to go on, and a deep sense that James could be in danger, it's a race to see if the Mackenzies can get James
. . . back in time.
Elder James Mathews is serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the church he joined a few years ago after going missing for several weeks across time. For almost two years he has served the people in Korea, the homeland of his ancestors. One day he meets someone who knows him already. James has no idea who the old man is, but it soon becomes clear he will be going on another adventure across time.
Back home, he and his brother, Tyson, join up with the Quickstep team. Red Mackenzie is handing over the reins to his grandson, Jason, a little at a time. Quentin Robinson, Jason's best friend and fellow time traveler, is also getting training on Red's system. None of them could possibly guess what the future, or the past has in store for them as James and Tyson try to convince them that the mission is worth the risks inherent with time travel. Every single thing they do needs to be planned out perfectly. If they do it right, they might get to where and when they need to go, just in time.
